The German commodity plastics market:
Polyolefin prices heading further south

04 Feb 2019 −

Of all standard commodity plastics, demand was briskest for PS in January. Producers were even able to achieve minor price hikes for this commodity – but it remained the only one.

Many converters were in contrast holding back with purchasing PE and PP. Prices dropped here compared to December, but occasionally it was a little less than for the corresponding monomers.

PVC order levels were seasonally low. Here converters were pushing for rebates amounting to half the ethylene mark-down.

This is an excerpt from EUWID's monthly report on the German commodity plastics market. The EUWID Price Watch for January together with the complete report were published in EUWID Packaging Markets 3/2019.
