The German commodity plastics market:
Prices for several grades under pressure

03 May 2018 −

For some standard commodity plastics, the month of April was characterised by demand issues.

EUWID was told that this applied in particular to those polyolefins where supply exceeded buying interest.

PE and PP prices remained stable – at best – despite the upstream product hikes. PS continued its zigzag course and was a lot cheaper, which helped boost demand compared to the disappointing business in March.

However, some converters still preferred to wait for further potential mark-downs in May. The PVC market was balanced amid stable prices or marginal hikes.
