The German commodity plastics market:
Severe summer slowdown in August

13 Sep 2019 −

The German market for standard commodity plastics experienced a severe summer slow-down in August.

Demand was very subdued. This was due both to the summer holidays as well as the economy slowing in certain sectors, said EUWID respondents.

Private consumption was the main pillar supporting the overall economy in Germany. Demand was stable only for the plastics destined for private consumption sectors or the food industry, for instance for packaging.

This is an excerpt from EUWID's monthly report on the German commodity plastics market. The EUWID Price Watch for August together with the complete report will be published in EUWID Packaging Markets 19/2019.
