The German commodity plastics market:
Supply situation grows tenser in February

11 Mar 2021 −

“No recovery in sight” was the consensus among participants in the market for standard commodity plastics.

The supply situation, which had been tight for months, reached its peak for the time being in mid-February. There was an “extreme undersupply” of polyethylene, polypropylene and PVC, according to EUWID respondents. Only polystyrene experienced less frantic business in the period leading up to the third week of February, although the declaration of force majeure by a European supplier had the potential to aggravate the situation again.
