The German commodity plastics market:
Polystryrene prices rise in February

05 Mar 2020 −

Standard commodity plastics prices developed along rather varied lines in February.

While HDPE quotes dropped, PVC remained at a stable level. Availability was good across the board for all materials during this period. Some markets were currently benefiting from China’s economic downturn in the wake of the corona virus crisis.

Topics such as the automotive crisis, trade disputes and Brexit were currently taking a backseat in the market for standard commodity plastics. What remained was the “annoying plastic bashing” that was bringing the entire industry into more and more disrepute.

This is an excerpt from EUWID's monthly report on the German commodity plastics market. The EUWID Price Watch for February together with the complete report were published in EUWID Packaging Markets 5/2020.
