The German commodity plastics market:
Unabated high demand from the packaging sector

11 May 2020 −

As in the previous month, the market for standard commodity plastics in April was driven by the brisk demand in the packaging segment.

Especially the food and medical sectors were leading the consumption statistics, while the consumer goods, construction and automotive industries were increasingly faltering. In the wake of cross-sectoral production stoppages and reduced working hours as a result of the Corona pandemic, demand for standard commodity plastics on the whole remained at the previous year's level despite rapidly falling raw material costs and in some cases increased advance purchases.
