Facing a surge in energy costs, cartonboard producers are making upwards adjustments to even the already announced price hikes.
This development is occurring in a market that is already challenged by extremely long delivery times. The markets for fresh-fibre and recycled board are undersupplied, while demand from the converting industry is strong.
Suppliers say that for the rest of this year they are only able to serve existing customers and deliver volumes that were already agreed and planned long ago. Securing volumes of fresh-fibre and recycled board grades is currently the top priority for the folding cartons industry in Germany.
