The German paper and board market:
Corrugated board industry reports full order books

01 Oct 2021 −

Companies in the German corrugated board industry told EUWID they were seeing growth in order intake.

Demand growth has reached a double-digit percentage figure over the course of the year. Trends towards the 20 per cent mark were not being seen by all companies in the industry when interviewed in September, but the direction was clear.

In order to work through the orders on hand, the industry said it was introducing additional shifts, so employees and plants were producing around the clock. But this was still not easing the market situation and order backlogs stretched into December and sometimes beyond. Asked about what the current situation would mean for the fourth quarter, some market participants said they were "heading into a catastrophe".
