The German PET market:
Demand for beverage bottles plummeted in April

28 May 2020 −

Demand for PET packaging for hygiene products remained brisk in May and companies in the market segment expected this situation to remain unchanged at least into June.

The containers were no longer sold exclusively on the domestic market or on neighbouring European markets, but were also being exported to the US, where the coronavirus outbreak had hit somewhat later than in Europe. However, the mass markets, including the market for PET beverage bottles, have been disrupted since early to mid-April and players along the entire supply chain reported an abrupt slump, which was also dominating events in mid-May.

This is an excerpt from EUWID's report on the German PET market. The EUWID Price Watch PET for April together with the complete report are published in EUWID Packaging Markets 11/2020.
