The German PET market:
March shaped by price hikes and availability of volumes

12 Apr 2021 −

The expectations for the summer amid potentially continuing coronavirus restrictions as well as price developments remain the main topics in the German PET market.

At the end of March, there were signs of further adjustments to contract volumes, with a simultaneous rise in prices for spot volumes and for food-grade recyclate. Even prior to the conclusion of March prices, a continuation of these developments in April seems possible. The decisive factors determining prices were the oil price and reduced imports from Asia. However, the actual effects of reduced imports were assessed differently among EUWID respondents.
