The German PET market:
Minor price increase for primary grades is met by falling prices for recyclates

12 Oct 2020 −

The weather conditions in the months of August and September boosted demand for large 1.5 l PET bottles for mineral water.

However, demand remained well below last year's levels. Small PET bottles were still particularly hard hit, falling considerably shorter of the previous year's figures despite a slight increase in travel activity. With the end of the summer, the peak season was over for the PET bottle segment, by far the largest segment within the PET market. Since September, converters had been continually reducing their inventories, said market participants. Primary PET was readily available without there being any excess supply on the market.

This is an excerpt from EUWID's report on the German PET market. The EUWID Price Watch PET for September together with the complete report will be published in EUWID Packaging Markets 21/2020.
