The German PET market:
Reduced supply gives rise to pronounced mark-ups in August

21 Sep 2017 −

European PET was again in brisk demand in the summer month of August.

As EUWID discovered, supply tightened markedly due to the stoppage of a production line of a major supplier. This allowed producers to raise the prices more than for the upstream products. Volumes are also expected to remain limited in the coming months.

Converters fear the reduced availability will lead to a higher price level in the long run. Significant mark-ups were to be expected when the contracts expire at the end of the year, EUWID was told.

This is an excerpt from EUWID's bimonthly report on the German PET market. The EUWID Price Watch PET for August together with the complete report is published in EUWID Packaging Markets 19/2017.
