The German plastic packaging market:
Suppliers still facing tight raw material situation

17 Jun 2021 −

The market for plastic packaging was divided at the end of May.

While the producers of plastic tubes and food packaging surveyed by EUWID were happy about largely well-filled order books on the one hand, they were forced to accept continuously rising prices for their raw materials and short volumes on the other. Passing on the higher costs was not easy in all cases, according to respondents. The cosmetics and dental care segments in particular were the driving forces for plastic tubes.

In the case of containers, deliveries in the food retail sector continued to be stable. In addition, incoming orders in the hotel, restaurant and catering segment seemed to be picking up again now that the lockdowns have ended.

This is an excerpt from EUWID's report on the German plastic packaging market. The complete report was published in EUWID Packaging Markets 12/2021.
