The German steel sheet packaging market:
Covid-19 crisis has so far had little impact on the industry

15 Oct 2020 −

Suppliers of sheet steel packaging operating in Germany have so far come through the coronavirus crisis largely unscathed.

This was confirmed by the majority of the companies interviewed by EUWID, most of which have so far recorded only slight volume losses compared to the previous year. As in many other areas of the packaging industry, companies supplying customers in the food and pharmaceutical sectors benefited from Covid-19 in the steel drum sector. Demand from these segments persisted in September, according to market participants. However, it would appear that in recent weeks individual drum producers had also been able to benefit from the drop-out of a competitor on the German market.
