The German steel sheet packaging market:
Disappointing fourth quarter dampens full year 2018

The partly significant decline in demand for steel drums in the fourth quarter of 2018 resulted in delivery losses for many suppliers for the overall year.

In a best case scenario the volumes were kept stable.

In contrast, the current year started well for most producers. Yielding quotes for the upstream material have however hampered the industry’s efforts to slap mark-ups on drums.

As EUWID discovered, price hikes were only implemented occasionally and not across the board.
