The German tinplate packaging market:
Hot spring weather fuels deliveries of crown caps

25 Jun 2018 −

While market segments, such as crown caps, benefited from weeks-long summer weather and the run-up to the football world cup, other areas partly witnessed a slight dip during the second quarter.

However, apparently this did not always affect the entire industry such as with chemical technical packaging – a segment reporting both positive and less positive developments. The tone was similar in the segment for aerosol cans, but suppliers of food cans said most was going according to plan.

Passing on the rising tinplate prices was a particularly protracted affair this time round. The import tariffs the US have slapped on European tinplate and their potential ramifications for Europe are of course a major industry topic.
