The German tinplate packaging market:
Long summer leaves its mark in many segments

28 Sep 2018 −

The impact of the long and dry summer varied markedly for the individual segments in the market for tinplate packaging.

While suppliers of crown caps still boasted excellent operating rates in mid-September, producers of food cans were facing delivery dips in the weeks ahead due to crop losses for autumn vegetables. With regard to aerosol cans and chemical-technical packaging, the heatwave also resulted in a slump in individual delivery segments.

There was great uncertainty over how tinplate prices would develop by January 1, 2019. But the packaging industry already had a sense of foreboding as to where quotes might be heading.

This is an excerpt from EUWID's quarterly report on the German tinplate packaging market. The full article will be published in EUWID Packaging Markets 20/2018.
