The German tinplate packaging market:
Passing on higher prices seems far from easy

05 Mar 2018 −

In mid-February, most producers of tinplate packaging and caps were still trying to pass on the rising tinplate prices.

This was proving problematic and the achievements often fell short of the original targets.

Market players are keenly following the direction raw material prices will take also with regard to the punitive tariff duties the US wants to slap on tinplate imports.

In future the industry also needs to consider the new EU regulation that sets a migration limit on BPA. However, this does not appear to pose too great a problem and most EUWID respondents started 2018 with a positive outlook.
