The German tinplate packaging market:
Rising quotes for the upstream product cast shadow

02 Oct 2017 −

One of the main talking points in the market for tinplate packaging is whether the merger of the European steel activities of thyssenkrupp and Tata Steel will go through and which impact this might have on the tinplate sector.

Aside from the changes that the joint venture could trigger for the supply chain structure, packaging and cap producers are also anticipating altered prices for their upstream material as of 1 January 2018.

While individual market participants say they have so far only heard some rumblings that something might be in the pipeline, others say they have already conducted the first talks with the tinplate industry.
