The German used disposable PET bottles market:
Tough times continue for recyclers

15 Jun 2020 −

The situation for PET bottle recyclers in Germany did not improve in May as the industry continued to be rocked by turbulence.

Low-priced primary plastics and the coronavirus crisis led to a significant decline in orders in May. Several recyclers have been using short-time work or reducing their operations since April and other firms are likely to follow suit in June.

Converters that produce fibres, strapping for packaging, film and bottles were also implementing short-time work or idling lines in response to weak demand. Most of the recyclers surveyed by EUWID say that orders for the month of June were just 50 per cent of the normal volumes.

This is an excerpt from EUWID's monthly report on the German market for used disposable PET bottles. The EUWID Price Watch for May together with the complete report are published in EUWID Packaging Markets 12/2020.
