The German waste plastics market:
Sluggish business with PE scrap film in August

13 Sep 2018 −

In August, business with PE scrap film was extremely sluggish.

Following the sharp price reductions announced by merchants at the end of July in response to the lack of export sales to the Far East, supermarket chains and other waste holders decided to bide their time in anticipation of a price recovery.

Only the good qualities such as 98/2 mixed commercial film were in demand; even 90/10 film was barely selling. Waste management fees were charged for 80/20 material and lesser grades, which once again really put a damper on the volume business.

This is an excerpt from EUWID's monthly report on the German waste plastics market. The EUWID Price Watch Waste Plastics for August together with the complete report will be published in EUWID Packaging Markets 19/2018.
