The German pallet market:
Demand reported to be comparatively weak in early 2016

22 Feb 2016 −

Following relatively brisk business in December 2015, German flat-pallet producers saw a mainly quiet period of activity at the start of the year. Enquiries in the first two weeks were frequently limited to smaller top-up volumes.

Interest among major clients in prompt conclusion of quarter- or half-year contracts was relatively restrained, attributed in part to what was often still an adequate supply situation on the buying side. Because of the timing of the public holidays, pallet clients from the sectors of consumer goods and foodstuffs in particular had also produced in the last two weeks of December and at that time called on additional numbers of pallets from suppliers to put into storage.

Only since mid-January have producers registered a gradual revival in demand, but business has so far been down year on year.
