FPE members concerned about polymer shortages
European flexible packaging manufacturers expressed concern about the current shortages and price developments in the plastics market.
Flexible Packaging Europe, the mouthpiece of the European flexible packaging industry said its members had been confronted with a growing number of "force majeure" declarations and "maintenance announcements" in a very short time. This had led to sudden and significant bottlenecks as well as price increases along the supply chain.
Italy's Unionplast - which is part of the Milan-based plastics and rubber industry association Federazione Gomma Plastica - also once again voiced criticism on the subject of plastic shortages. Unionplast had already taken a stand on this in mid-January.
