French metal packaging industry enjoyed significant boost to turnover in 2017

20 Sep 2018 −

Following the unsuccessful year of 2016, the French metal packaging industry was able to significantly increase their turnover in 2017.

The industry enjoyed double digit increases on the domestic market and some minor gains for exports. The volumes, however, dipped slightly but this was owed to a necessary alteration of the calculation basis.

According to the French industry federation SNFBM the increased turnover is partly owed to the passing on of rising upstream material costs.

The tinplate segment enjoyed more dynamic development last year than the aluminium sector.
