German corrugated board market booming, says VDW

20 Nov 2017 −

In the third quarter of 2017, the members of the German association of the corrugated industry (VDW) sold 1.99 billion m² of corrugated board products. This equals an increase of 5.5% compared to the third quarter 2016.

Year-to-date amount to 5.88 billion m², compared to 5.7 billion m² in the corresponding period of the previous year.

"The growth in volume is therefore far higher than what we predicted at the beginning of this year,” says Dr. Oliver Wolfrum, VDW managing director.

The figure also surpasses the assessment of economic research institutes in their current autumn report, which predicted a working-day adjusted growth rate of 2.2% for the German economy.
