In 2014 soft drinks can fillings increased more than beer can sales in Europe

The European can market grew by almost 4% in 2014, with around 63bn cans filled during the year. According to the Brussels-based industry association Beverage Can Makers Europe (BCME), both the beer and the soft drinks sector reported growth. In the canned beer market, fillings across Europe increased by 2% to around 31bn units, soft drinks fillings were up 5% to 32bn cans. The expansion for soft drinks cans was particularly helped by the ongoing development of Eastern European markets, such as Hungary and
Poland. The German and Turkish soft drinks sectors also witnessed “impressive” growth, BCME reports.
