Italy's market for packaging machinery shrinks

The Italian packaging machinery industry is expected to see a 5% average decline in turnover to €7.64bn (€8.04bn) in 2020 compared to 2019.

On the basis of preliminary data, the Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association UCIMA reports a decline of 4.5% for exports and domestic sales could fall by up to 6.8%. In particular, key demand from export markets is expected to shrink €6.06bn in terms of turnover, while domestic demand is expected to fall to €1.57bn.
