Plastic tax and sugar tax: double punishment for "Made in Italy" products?

From January 1, 2021, the so-called "plastic tax" will be enforced in Italy - a tax on disposable plastics for packaging applications to the tune of €0.45/kg.

This tax mainly affects producers and processors along the plastic value-added chain as well as beverage manufacturers. Especially the latter are up in arms, see themselves economically threatened and doubly punished because the "sugar tax" is being introduced at the same time.
