Plastic tax in Italy will be postponed

22 May 2020 −

Associations and companies of the Italian plastics industry have been campaigning to have the so-called "plastic tax" postponed.

Now their demand has been met. The tax on disposable plastics for packaging applications amounting to €0.45/kg will be postponed until 1 January 2021. Originally, the tax was to take effect on 1 July 2020, as was stated in a decree (Decreto Legge "Rilancio") published on 13 May and adopted by the Italian Council of Ministers.
