Turnover of the French metal packaging industry dips markedly in 2020

23 Sep 2021 −

The French metal packaging industry concluded 2020 with a 14% year-on-year decline in deliveries to €1.094bn, the French industry association SNFBM (Syndicat National des Fabricants de Boîtes, emballages et bouchages Métalliques) reports.

According to SNFBM, beverage cans were among the winners of the past year, which was dominated by the coronavirus pandemic: deliveries increased by 5.2% compared to 2019 and now have a 22% share of the total market for beverage packaging in the French retail sector. The association describes the development of the beverage can in French e-commerce last year as particularly "spectacular". Overall, volumes here increased by 39%.
