In the German label paper market, the positive demand trend seen at the beginning of the year continued throughout the entire first quarter of 2024.
Signs of a nascent uptick were already apparent at the end of 2023 and paper producers told EUWID at the end of March that this has translated into very good order intake. This was true for both wet strength and alkali-resistant papers as well as the non-wet-strength grades.
"The first quarter is crazy, we are at full capacity,” said one respondent, noting that delivery times now stretch to six weeks. A different player mentioned lead times of up to eight weeks. By contrast, delivery times in 2023 had barely exceeded two weeks in most cases.
