Poland: downward price spiral for corrugated case material continues

The market for corrugated case material in Poland is coming out of a particularly weak first quarter.

Although some producers claim to have seen a slight uptick in demand in March, the overall activity levels in the industry were worse than feared, despite many working days in the first quarter. In the first three months of the year, paper mills’ deliveries were estimated to be at least 10 per cent below the budgeted volumes.

"April is also not looking good – neither on the paper side nor on the corrugated board side,” said one integrated producer at the end of March.
