At the end of October two things could be heard from the market for standard commodity plastics. On the one hand, many EUWID respondents said that demand was once again quieter than in the previous month. On the other hand, there were isolated voices on the distribution side that described a good order situation across all product ranges. Above all, converters who had emptied their warehouses over the summer months were forced to buy. The supply of commodities continued to be tight in October. Polymer producers maintained their production cuts. According to statements, only a small amount of imports arrived in Europe. There were isolated reports of bottlenecks. Prices were on the upswing due to rising quotations for monomers. However, it was reported that polymer producers were unable to push through their demands, some of which were in the triple digits, across the market....
