A rather slow pace of general economic activity on the German domestic and export markets in June and until the middle of July 2023 is still holding back demand for flat wooden pallets at the beginning of the third quarter, too. Holiday-related factors had already been contributing to further strengthening the trend last month and will continue to do so until the end of August. Despite an estimated 15% lower domestic output of pallets than last year in the first half-year, market players are describing the supply of euro pallets as well as chemical pallets as still too high. Some manufacturers will therefore be taking additional steps in July/August to reduce production further still. Short-time working is increasingly becoming an issue in this context as well....
