Demand in the market for flexible plastic packaging was described as “quiet” across the board by EUWID respondents in mid-July. Some interviewees were of the opinion that they were still in a good position in the overall economic context, others would certainly like to see a revival. On the one hand, they assumed that the weak demand was due to full warehouses along the supply chain. Last year, many buyers had built up large inventories. These were now being reduced gradually. On the other hand, inflation and the related restraint of end consumers was also having an impact on incoming orders. Basically, the situation was weak throughout the first half of the year, according to market insiders....
