After an exceptionally weak year 2023 in many segments, Poland’s paper industry is hoping that 2024 will bring new growth impetus. Various companies are now in a difficult financial situation as a result of increased costs and lower sales prices. Yet, there appeared some green shoots in the order books for corrugated case material during the fourth quarter. However, quotes for recycled corrugated case material and kraftliner as well as cartonboard declined either in the fourth quarter of 2023 or at the beginning of 2024 – and sometimes in both cases. Prices for ordinary recovered paper grades on the Polish market have remained broadly stable since increasing in October.
