Signs of recovery for packaging grades after rising prices until May

Describing the mood among companies doing business on Poland’s paper market, market players said that the worse things became, the higher the hopes of an improvement seemed to be. But insiders doubt that such hopes are justified, at least looking at the market as a whole and the next few months. Some contacts active on Poland’s packaging paper and cartonboard market are identifying the first signs of a minor recovery. The downward spiral in corrugated case material and GD board prices appears to have ground to a halt for now. Packaging suppliers in Poland made mixed comments, reporting an uptick in ordering here and there, but not everywhere. On the recovered paper market, supermarket paper and board gradually became more costly up until May. Pressure subsided again towards the end of May, with sources anticipating a lateral movement or small price cuts....
