The German lightweight kraft paper market: producers preparing to hike prices at the start of Q2

All things considered, lightweight kraft paper manufacturers and converters surveyed by EUWID in mid-February had mixed views about how business in Germany is going. On the supply side, paper mills reported good or typical demand for the season. Demand for fresh and recycled fibre-based MG (machine-glazed) kraft paper (40 g) had picked up starting in mid-January after a slow spell over Christmas and New Year. Producers of brown and white MG kraft paper were reportedly busier than in the fourth quarter of 2023. EUWID sources said that paper machines were no longer able to produce additional amounts at short notice or accommodate spontaneous orders in a few cases.
