Producers on the market for GD cartonboard are trying in France, as well as elsewhere, to introduce higher prices from January.
Some – but not all – producers made announcements to this effect a while ago, but there has not yet been any widespread implementation.
It was necessary to raise prices in light of higher recovered paper costs, argue cartonboard makers. However, only a small number of them are adamantly pursuing this price hike.
As of the third week of December, there were only reports of a few moderately-sized mark-ups that had gone through. Otherwise, the parties were still negotiating or the increases would take effect at a later date than 1 January, EUWID was told.
